Disability awareness consultant Andrew Gurza, 34, started the hashtag, telling MailOnline: 'Disabled people are so often desexualized and infantilized, and I hope this hashtag changes that'
The hashtag began after disability awareness consultant Andrew Gurza, 34, who has cerebral palsy, started it.
He told MailOnline: 'I created #DisabledPeopleAreHot for fun, and to show that disabled people can be sexy and feel good about themselves.
'Disabled people are so often desexualized and infantilized, and I hope this hashtag changes that. I was actually surprised that the hashtag hadn't already been used, so I ran with it.
'I am so happy that people love the tag and what it means for disabled people to be seen.'

Many of the posts carry emotional messages about why they decided to put their sexiest selfies on such a public profile.

Single mother Eileen Davidson, who has chronic arthritis, shared an image of herself holding her disabled parking permit, saying: 'I thought I was too young to get it [arthritis], til I learned children can too. I thought it was just joint pain, but after 4 years I know it is so much more than just joint pain.'
